I am a very fortunate person.  I was given the chance of a fresh start and I lived two lives in one.  Born in a communist dictatorship, I slowly became dissatisfied with the system.  I was reborn when I enthusiastically took part in the Revolution of December 1989 in Romania.

My trips to Europe in 1990, especially in Norway, opened my mind and heart to a new and marvelous world.  A computer engineer, turned businessman, I strived hard to achieve economic independence and learn the lesson.  The work of International Development with CHF and Land O'Lakes opened for me new horizons of understanding.  Land O'Lakes, my best employer in life, made me enjoy not only a wonderful team, but many trips on all continents.   And my daughter make me extremely happy with her achievement dedication.

My sky is studded with the stars of so many friendships that I made all these years.  This page is dedicated to my friends, and contains flashes on my existence, excitement, dangers and fun, excerpts from articles I wrote.  If you are a friend of mine, enjoy my adventures around the world and into my past.

Greece

If you want to have a perfect holiday go for Greece.  You could have surprises, but in the end everything could be fun.

Albania

The madness of communist dictatorship attained high peaks in Albania.  Still the country has a future...(Click on the picture to enlarge)

Busted in Montenegro

Sometimes a foreign trip could be rather adventurous, especially when you get arrested by police.

Uganda

January 1999, my first trip to Uganda as a Land O'Lakes employee.  I discovered here a fascinating world, where everything I knew about the world I had to rediscover with different eyes.

Kenya

Kenya is indeed a very exotic country and I lived there experiences hard to imagine.  It is a similar, and in the same time so different world that I described in two articles that I will post here in a short time.

Chamonix and Switzeland

The Alps, the highest mountains of Europe.  Thanks to some friends of mine I was able to look at them with different eyes ... (Click on the picture to enlarge)

Germany and France 2004

Again on a trip to Germany to Karlsruhe to learn Business Computer Systems.  And to Strasbourg to enjoy this marvelous city...

Thinking differently

"The Customer is King" should be our new credo.  In communism the customer had to fight hard to get the scarce products.  Our mentality transition is not an easy one...

Timisoara

This is the wonderful city where I live.  Want to know more? You can look at some nice pictures. More pictures.  And night pictures.

Fire in the Fagaras Mountains

By sheer chance a fire in the forest could be controlled...

Sibiu

My childhood city, Sibiu, is an old medieval City with impressive towers, defense walls and bastions.  The perfect place to play hide and seek or dual your pals with wooden swords.

Do not take everything for granted

If you live in a developed country you think many things the society automatically owes to you.   In former communist countries people have to fight hard to get them and restore normality.

My first business

In 1990 I started a business with two friends.  "Learning to swim in a torrent or how to manage a Romanian private firm" is a paper  presented in 1991 at a symposium in Kristiansand, Norway, about our strife

Retezat

Retezat mountains are part of the filled with mystery Carpathian Mountains, which border Transylvania.  Here my wife and me spent a wonderful weekend of peace and tranquility...

Maramures

The Northern part of Transylvania is called Maramures. Go there and you are for a big surprise. No, not Dracula, but a pristine oasis where old values and traditions are still cherished.

Burgundy

When my daughter Ioana married Jeremy, burgundy was the theme ...   (Click on the picture to enlarge)

How big is the Italian pizza?

I always knew that pizza is just food, with variations according to different recipes.  It is not true.  Italian and American pizza are culturally different...

Raw Models

A book about Gallup methods to discover human strengths led me to a introspection on what my raw models are, a trip to the center of myself...
And the story never ends.

There are so many other things that I would like to tell.  What is the process that leads a person to believe the society he lives in is wrong. How family values influenced this process. How I innocently got involved in what was named "manifests distribution" and how this could have ruined my life.  How the very little information I got from the West changed my way of thinking.  I have so many memories from the Romanian Revolution in Timisoara that wait to be put on paper, that elation time when I thought everything is possible.  How could I forget to tell the story of my first contacts with people in Norway and Sweden, countries that spiritually became my own.  My attempt to create several business is a adventure in itself. I made my apprenticeship in International Development with CHF and there I understood the complexity and reality of international work.  I flourished at Land O'Lakes where I encountered a friendly and stimulating work environment hard to imagine in Romania or even Europe.  And I have so many memories from the countries I visited: Honduras, Azerbeidjan, Siberia and many, many others.  And mainly I have to write about how much I learned from my friends, how they opened for me new horizons.

It is my intention to continue to write, whenever I will find time and inspiration.  I hope that each time you revisit this site, there will be something new for you.  If you have comments, write to me.
